Charles Ranby-Gorwood

Insolvency Practitioner, Network Partner

Charles Ranby-Gorwood is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and receiver, and part of TaxDigit’s professional network. He is the founder of CRG, an independent, family-run insolvency and financial recovery practice based in Lincolnshire and working throughout the UK, regulated by the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

Charles has spent more than twenty-five years in insolvency. His particular expertise is investigation: establishing what actually happened to a company, following transactions and asset movements, and working out what can be recovered for creditors. He has acted across administrations, company voluntary arrangements, liquidations, compulsory appointments, bankruptcy and asset recovery, and is commercially realistic about keeping work proportionate to the outcome.

For TaxDigit clients, Charles is the licensed Insolvency Practitioner we introduce when a company needs rescue, restructuring or closure advice, or when a creditor needs to know what can be recovered, while TaxDigit continues to handle the accounts, tax and HMRC side.

Frequently asked questions

Can TaxDigit help if my company is in financial difficulty?

TaxDigit handles the accounts, tax and HMRC side. Where a formal insolvency process or licensed insolvency advice is needed, we introduce Charles Ranby-Gorwood through our professional network and coordinate both sides.

Who is Charles Ranby-Gorwood?

Charles Ranby-Gorwood is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and receiver regulated by the Insolvency Practitioners Association, with more than twenty-five years in insolvency and particular expertise in investigations and asset recovery.

How do I get started?

Contact TaxDigit on 01483 230 777 or at info@taxdigit.co.uk. We review your accounts and tax position and arrange the introduction where insolvency advice is needed.

Can my accountant close my limited company?

An accountant can prepare the final accounts and tax returns and help with a voluntary strike-off where that route is suitable, but a members’ or creditors’ voluntary liquidation must be handled by a licensed Insolvency Practitioner. TaxDigit prepares the accounting and tax side and introduces Charles Ranby-Gorwood where a liquidation is needed.

What are the tax implications of closing a company?

They depend on how the company is closed and how funds are paid out to shareholders. Distributions in a liquidation and dividends paid before it can be taxed differently, so the route should be planned with the tax outcome in view. TaxDigit advises on the tax side before any decision is made.

What happens to an overdrawn director’s loan account in insolvency?

An overdrawn director’s loan account is usually treated as money owed to the company and can be pursued by a liquidator. TaxDigit reviews the loan account and its tax position early, so directors understand their exposure before a formal process begins.

Insolvency advice and appointments are provided by CRG under its own engagement terms and regulation by the Insolvency Practitioners Association. TaxDigit provides accountancy and tax services and does not act as an insolvency practitioner.
