Moving to the UK: Immigration and Tax, Planned Together

TaxDigit now works with a London immigration law firm in its legal network, so relocating individuals, investors, founders and employers get UK tax, accounts and company set-up from us and regulated immigration advice from specialists, coordinated in one place.

A visa route is also a tax decision

When you move to the UK, the date you arrive, the income you keep abroad, how your business is set up and who you employ all shape your UK tax position. Too often the immigration plan is settled first and the tax consequences are discovered afterwards, when the options have narrowed.

TaxDigit has built a legal network so that does not happen. Through our partnership with Westkin Associates, a London immigration law firm listed in The Legal 500 and a long-standing member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association, TaxDigit clients can have the immigration side handled by specialists while we plan and run the tax, accounting and company side from day one.

UK passport handed over, TaxDigit legal network for immigration and UK tax planning

What this network gives TaxDigit clients

Tax planned before you arrive

Your UK tax residence position, overseas income and gains, and the timing of your move reviewed by TaxDigit before you travel, not after.

Founder and investor routes

UK company formation, registered office, bank account support and bookkeeping set up by TaxDigit, so the business behind an application stands up.

Employers sponsoring staff

PAYE payroll and reporting run by TaxDigit for employers that bring people from abroad, alongside specialist advice on the licence and each visa.

Settlement and citizenship

Clean, up-to-date tax returns and accounts from TaxDigit, so your financial history is in order when you apply to settle or naturalise.

Families moving together

Spouse and family visa advice from the immigration specialists, with TaxDigit looking after the household’s UK tax and overseas income.

One point of contact

You stay with TaxDigit. We make the introduction, share what is needed with your consent, and keep both timelines aligned.

A new capability for TaxDigit

Until now, a TaxDigit client who needed a visa had to find, brief and manage a separate law firm alone. With a dedicated legal network in place, TaxDigit can take a relocation from the first question to settled status as one coordinated project: tax, accounts, company and immigration advice working to the same plan.

It builds on what TaxDigit already does every day: international and expat tax, company formation as a Companies House Authorised Corporate Service Provider, and payroll and ongoing compliance for businesses owned from abroad.

How it works

1. You tell us what you are planning

A move, an investment, a new UK company or a first overseas hire. TaxDigit reviews the tax and accounting position first.

2. We map the tax side

Residence, overseas income, the right structure for the business and the timing that works, set out in plain English.

3. We introduce the immigration specialists

With your consent, TaxDigit introduces you to our legal network and shares the facts they need, so you do not start from scratch.

4. Both sides work to one timeline

Visa steps and tax steps are coordinated, so company formation, payroll and filings are ready when the immigration process needs them.

5. TaxDigit stays with you

After you arrive, we run your UK tax returns, accounts and payroll year after year.

When to talk to TaxDigit

  • Before you move to the UK, or before you move a business here.
  • When you are forming a UK company as an overseas founder or investor.
  • When your business plans to sponsor staff from abroad.
  • When you are approaching settlement or citizenship and want your tax records in order.
  • When your family is joining you and your household finances cross borders.

What TaxDigit is, and what it is not

We are chartered certified accountants, not immigration advisers. TaxDigit is a UK accountancy firm regulated by ACCA, supervised by HMRC for anti-money-laundering purposes (MLR registration XKML00000211873) and registered with Companies House as an ACSP. We do not give immigration advice.

Immigration advice comes from the specialists. Visa and immigration advice is given by Westkin Associates under its own engagement terms and professional regulation. Your engagement for that advice is with them.

We coordinate, with your consent. We share information with our network only when you ask us to, and only what is needed.

No outcome is guaranteed. Immigration decisions are made by the Home Office. Nothing on this page is legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can TaxDigit help me move to the UK?

Yes, on the tax, accounting and company side. TaxDigit reviews your UK tax position before you arrive, sets up and runs your UK company if you have one, and introduces you to the immigration law firm in our legal network for visa advice.

Do I need tax advice before moving to the UK?

Often, yes. Your UK tax position depends on when you become UK resident and on the income and gains you have abroad, so it is worth reviewing before you travel rather than after.

Does TaxDigit give immigration advice?

No. Immigration advice must come from a regulated adviser. TaxDigit introduces clients to Westkin Associates, an immigration law firm in our network, and coordinates the tax and accounting side.

Can an accountant help with a business or investor visa?

An accountant cannot advise on the visa itself, but can prepare the company, accounts, forecasts and payroll records that business applications often rely on. That is the work TaxDigit does alongside the immigration specialists.

Does owning a UK company give me the right to live in the UK?

No. A UK company can be owned and run from anywhere, but owning one does not by itself give a right to live or work here. That needs the right immigration route, which our legal network can advise on.

How much does it cost?

TaxDigit quotes its own fees for the tax and accounting work before you commit. The immigration law firm agrees its fees with you directly.

How do I get started?
