Frequently asked questions
My income is different every month — how do I plan for tax?
We set aside the right percentage as you earn, forecast your January and July payments and keep a rolling picture of what you owe, so a good year never turns into a bad tax surprise.
How is influencer and content-creator income taxed?
Brand deals, ad revenue, affiliate links, subscriptions and even significant gifted products are generally taxable. We register you correctly, track every stream and claim all allowable costs.
Do I pay UK tax on royalties and overseas earnings?
Usually yes, but foreign withholding tax can often be credited against your UK bill under double-tax treaties. We make sure nothing is taxed twice.
Should I set up a limited company for my creative work?
It depends on your profit level, contracts and plans. We run the numbers — including IR35 where relevant — and tell you honestly which structure saves you money.
Which creative industry tax relief applies to us?
It depends on what you produce. Film, high-end TV, animation and children’s TV claim the Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit; games claim the Video Games Expenditure Credit; theatre, orchestral concerts and curated exhibitions claim Theatre, Orchestra or Museums and Galleries Exhibition Tax Relief. Independent British films may qualify for the enhanced Independent Film Tax Credit at 53%. We identify the right one, and whether a separate R&D claim also applies.
Do you act for production companies as well as individual creatives?
Yes. We act for production companies and their per-title special purpose vehicles, studios, agencies, labels and publishers, as well as for individual performers, musicians, creators and freelance crew.
Can you take over from our current accountant mid-year?
Yes, and it is routine. We handle professional clearance, collect the records, review what has already been filed and pick up from the next deadline. Most transfers take a couple of weeks and need very little from you.
Where is TaxDigit based?
Parallel House, 32 London Road, Guildford, Surrey GU1 2AB — around 35 minutes from central London and close to the Surrey production corridor. We act for creative businesses across the UK and internationally.
